In Conformity with the aims and objects of the Divine Life Society,Rishikesh,Sivananda Centenary Boys’ School was Sponsored by the All Orissa Divine Life Society, Central Committee in 1984 to perpetuate the sacred memory of the Great Master, H.H. Sri Swami Sivananda Swaraswati,the Founder President of the Divine Life Society, Rishikesh and to put into action His Philosophy on education.
This institution fed and fostered by the choicest blessings of H. H. Sri Swami Chidananda Saraswati Maharaj situated on 10 acres of land in the year 1984 at the foothills of the historic Khandagiri Hills situated in the Temple city of Bhubaneswar to commemorate the sacred memory of Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj, Founder President of International Divine Life Society, Risikesh, on the eve of His Birth Centenary with Odia medium with syllabus of Board of Secondary Education, Odisha in the concept of ancient Gurukul system suitably adopted to modern system of education. As per H.H. Swami Sivananda Saraswati Maharaj, “If moral and spiritual values are not inculcated from the earliest years, a nation will become a Nation without a soul”. With this objective in mind the school is striving hard to bring about all-round development of the children and inculcate in them the lofty ideals of the glorious Indian culture to face the challenges of life successfully and be noble citizens of the country. To draw out positive potentialities latent in the students they are made to wake up at 4.30 a.m. to tune themselves with Yoga and various academic activities. This man making institution not only crafts the character of the students but also gives equal importance to excellence in studies. The outcome of it is cent percent success in the Board Examination with about 90% first divisioners. This School is managed by a Managing Committee without any proprietary right and not receiving any grant from the Government. Imparting value based education is the speciality of the school, for which a State-of art Yoga Centre/prayer hall and library have been constructed and named as Swami Chidananda Centre for Yoga and Value Education. As a Pace Setting Institute this school also provides training to the School teachers of Odisha in Yoga. Now the school is running in the platform of C.B.S.E, New Delhi after switching over to English medium.
